Public speaking used to terrify me.
I had a really bad experience in high school that rocked me to the core. After that, anytime I tried to speak in groups, I would freeze, turn bright red, stutter my words, and adrenaline would surge through my body.
But I wanted to do a TEDx talk someday…
So, I kept practicing. I kept putting myself out there. And I learned that fear isn’t the enemy—it’s just energy. With breath and presence, we can alchemize fear into aliveness, presence, and even excitement.
In this video I share 6 tools that helped me on the TEDx stage:
✨ Exposure Therapy
✨ Own the room
✨ Befriend the space
✨ Be a lighthouse, not a spotlight
✨ Reframe fear as excitement
✨ Ground + orient
Are there tools that you have used to help you move from fear to presence while public speaking? I’d love to hear.
Please share this with anyone who may find these tips helpful.
